Fresh beer, straight from the brewery

Innovation often happens at the edges of categories. So we enjoyed a recent blog post from our South East Asia traveling colleague. He had arrived in Qingdao, on China’s east coast, the home of Tsingtao beer. Qingdao is apparently, both literally and metaphorically, a breath of fresh air. Its German history explains the brewery, and the birth of the Tsingtao beer brand. But aside from the brewery tour and modern high-speed production, the highlight of the visit was fresh takeaway beer, served in unexpected plastic packs!
Mimicking the appeal of fresh bread straight from the bakery, it made us feel there must also be opportunities for freshly baked biscuits, freshly made chocolate, freshly fried crisps and freshly mixed soft drinks…
