Currently only available in Sweden and Finland, the McVegan burger was created in collaboration with Orkla Foods as a response to the rise in plant-based eating. McDonald\u2019s isn\u2019t alone, Ikea have also just announced they are launching<a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/food-and-drink\/ikea-vegan-hot-dog-plant-based-vegetarian-sweden-europe-a8216346.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/food-and-drink\/ikea-vegan-hot-dog-plant-based-vegetarian-sweden-europe-a8216346.html\"> a plant-based Veggie hot dog<\/a>. With <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-42973870\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-42973870\">the recent announcement<\/a> that 1 in 4 UK evening do not contain meat, the vegan revolution seems set to continue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">On the other side of the coin, KFC embraces cryptocurrency with The Bitcoin Bucket, part of their blockchain loyalty program. The bucket, which launched last month in Canada as a limited offer could only be paid for using Bitcoin and sold out almost immediately. It seems the cryptocurrency meal deal is catching on as this release followed Burger King\u2019s Whoppercoin which was piloted in Russia last August. No one knows whether this makes up for the impact of the <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-43143169\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-43143169\">closure of hundreds of UK KFC<\/a> outlets this week due to a shortage of chicken! One paper even went so far as to suggest a distinctly non-vegan <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/lifeandstyle\/2018\/feb\/22\/is-southern-fried-squirrel-the-answer-to-kfcs-extraordinary-chicken-shortage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/lifeandstyle\/2018\/feb\/22\/is-southern-fried-squirrel-the-answer-to-kfcs-extraordinary-chicken-shortage\">alternative source of meat<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4782 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/WEB_1-ESkBdSGyS-xySwlzysVjsg.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Burger King&#8217;s Whoppercoin<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Once you\u2019ve eaten your fast food, cryptocurrency can also help you work it off. January saw the release of<a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/sweatco.in\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2018\/01\/17\/sweatcoin-lets-you-earn-crypto-for-working-out\/\"> SweatCoin<\/a>, a health app which awards points\u00a0, so called \u201cSweatcoins\u201d, to workouts and has more than 2 million active users on the app each week. The app builds on behavioural change techniques, nudging people to doing more exercise. In<a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/01\/07\/technology\/sweatcoin-fitness-app.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/01\/07\/technology\/sweatcoin-fitness-app.html\"> this interview<\/a>, one of the founders notes, \u201cBy giving consumers points that can buy goodies, Sweatcoin hopes to incentivise couch potatoes to become more active.\u201d We\u2019ve also seen Nike launch a new incentives scheme for its Nike Plus app, <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.l2inc.com\/daily-insights\/nikes-new-incentive?utm_source=email&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=daily-insights-blog&amp;utm_campaign=email\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.l2inc.com\/daily-insights\/nikes-new-incentive?utm_source=email&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=daily-insights-blog&amp;utm_campaign=email\">Nike Unlocks<\/a>, a gamified rewards system. The more active people are, the more they are rewarded with prizes, Apple music vouchers and guided meditation exercises. This shift towards gamification is increasingly popular and we are seeing more and more brands utilising the behavioural psychology we use here in BG Towers in our projects.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Speaking of Nike, last week they also released their<a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=n0j_CX1S2es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=n0j_CX1S2es\"> Nike Londoner<\/a> campaign which went viral with a very human-centric narrative, successfully tapping into \u201creal London culture\u201d. While the response has been overwhelmingly positive, some have been critical of the emphasis on London culture, expressing concern that the advert is <a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thedrum.com\/news\/2018\/02\/16\/and-against-nikes-nothing-beats-londoner-campaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.thedrum.com\/news\/2018\/02\/16\/and-against-nikes-nothing-beats-londoner-campaign\">not representative<\/a> of communities outside of the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"graf graf--p\">Finally, Athleisure is showing no signs of slowing down, the \u201csport leisure\u201d style has become<a class=\"markup--anchor markup--p-anchor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/andriacheng\/2018\/02\/09\/here-are-some-more-signs-athleisure-trend-still-has-legs\/#1de207b833cb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/andriacheng\/2018\/02\/09\/here-are-some-more-signs-athleisure-trend-still-has-legs\/#1de207b833cb\"> the largest category<\/a> in the U.S. sneaker space and is moving into the cosmetic space.
