The Consultant role is a foundational role in the Brand Genetics structure, helping to successfully deliver global insight, innovation and strategy projects. As such, Consultants are actively involved in the delivery of project work from day one, both in client-facing roles and behind the scenes. We believe in helping people grow, so we work with our Consultants’ talent and existing skills to empower them to increasingly contribute and deliver across all the different elements of the team’s work, including project management, client liaison, research and innovation.

Taking on this role in the North American office, you will additionally have the exciting opportunity to help build, shape and expand the new office – working closely alongside the Head of North America.

The Role:

We are seeking a self-motivated Consultant, an agile thinker looking to stretch themselves in an innovative and entrepreneurial environment, and eager to play an active role in helping BG develop on a global scale. Alongside active project work, there will also be involvement in new business. Typical responsibilities may include:

PROJECT DELIVERY AND BUILDING CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS (~80% of your time)

  • Day-to-day project involvement and support: Working closely with the senior team in the delivery of project work, e.g. developing research screeners and discussion guides, conducting and attending fieldwork, analyzing research, helping design and facilitate workshops
  • Manage project logistics: Setting up workshops and face-to-face or online qualitative research (US and global), booking venues, liaising with recruiters
  • Project and client management: Where relevant, helping to oversee project communications internally and with clients
  • Create client-facing content, in collaboration with the team: Contributing to content and design of presentations, blogs, podcasts, etc.; support in

delivering results in an impactful and engaging way to ensure work is useful and actionable for client teams

  • Start to establish/build client relationships, where appropriate: Developing client contacts, both on projects and outside of direct project work

NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND INTERNAL SUPPORT (~20% of your time)

  • Support in the development of new business proposals: Contributing to brainstorms, desk research, gathering costings and liaising with our research

partners around the world

  • Support and develop new business materials: Contributing to think pieces and writing up project case studies
  • Generate marketing content: Helping to write blog pieces or LinkedIn posts, supporting planning for in-person or virtual events
  • Shape BG culture through internal projects: Collaborating with global BG team members to strengthen our projects, performance, and people
  • Support senior team in BG new product development: Ideating and experimenting with new offerings, tools, or methodologies
  • Stay up to date with trends, innovations, and client news: Helping to keep the team informed and identify new opportunities

Desired Qualities & Experience

This role is ideal for consultants looking for the freedom and opportunity that comes with working in an ambitious, independent and growing business. We value the

power of diverse perspectives and welcome candidates from different disciplines, backgrounds, nationalities and cultural experiences.  Successful candidates are likely to be:

  • Passionate about brands and have a basic grounding in research, brand strategy or innovation: ideally with c. 12+ months experience (previous agency or consultancy experience is highly desirable)
  • Creative, curious and analytical: able to combine clear thinking with creative flair to help unlock new insights and opportunities
  • Self-motivated and hungry to learn: with an ability to get things done and a desire to make a real impact in shaping the company as it continues to grow
  • A team player: excellent at communicating and building strong, effective relationships, as well as willing to roll up your sleeves and get involved
  • Comfortable with the uncomfortable: learning and developing new skills and stretching yourself to achieve your full potential
  • Legally authorized to work in the US

 

Additional ‘nice to haves’:

  • Psychology, Neuroscience and/or Behavioral Science expertise: whether through education, work experience or personal passion and curiosity
  • Writing/blogging experience: demonstrating strong writing ability (in English) through published / self-published work
  • Excel / PowerPoint skills: ability to organize information efficiently and design decks that communicate insights in a clear and compelling way
  • Established self-awareness: demonstrating understanding of your own culture, identity, biases, prejudices, power, privilege and stereotypes
  • Languages: fluency other than English is a plus but not necessary
  • Marketing and business development: experience and/or interest a plus

  • Flexible working policy: we will provide access to our dynamic co-working space in Soho, with the expectation that you will work in the office 1-2 days a week (of your choosing!)
