We are on the hunt for a sharp strategic thinker to join our entrepreneurial New York team as a Consultant. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help build, shape, and expand the new office and company culture. You will work closely alongside the Head of North America and growing team, with the added support of a 25-year-old established UK business.

The Role
Consultants are a crucial part of our business: they run point on project management and serve as the eyes and ears of our consumers. We are looking for self-motivated, agile thinkers who are eager to stretch themselves in an innovative and entrepreneurial environment. Key components of the role include:

PROJECT DELIVERY AND CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS (c. 90% of your time)
- Day-to-day project involvement and support – working closely with the senior team in the delivery of project work. This will range across proposal development, writing research screeners and discussion guides, conducting consumer and expert interviews, moderating groups, attending fieldwork (often across the US), analyzing research, helping design and facilitate workshops
- Manage project logistics – setting up workshops, face-to-face and online qualitative research (US and global), booking venues, liaising with recruiters
- Leading and contributing to key client-facing content – including insight generation, content and design of presentations, workshop design and facilitation, debriefs, blogs etc. in collaboration with the team
- Delivering project outputs in an impactful and engaging way – verbally and visually presenting findings along with thoughtful and actionable strategic recommendations to seamlessly set clients up for future success
- Where appropriate start to establish / build client relationships on and beyond immediate projects

NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT (c. 10%)
- Support and develop new business materials – contributing to proposal development (brainstorms, desk research, gathering costings and liaising with partners), think pieces and case studies
- Help generate marketing content – our consultants regularly create blog pieces, post on LinkedIn, help plan for in-person or virtual events
- Support senior team in BG new product development, i.e. new offers and tools
- Stay up to date with trends and innovations to help BG stay informed and identify new opportunities

Desired Qualities & Experience
As part of the Brand Genetics North America team, you will contribute in tangible, meaningful ways from day one. This role is ideal for consultants who embrace a start-up mentality, value autonomy, and are eager to help grow the company and its culture. SMART:
- Passionate about brands and have strong foundational skills in research, brand strategy or innovation, ideally with c. 2-4 years of experience (previous agency / consultancy experience is highly desirable)
- Experienced in / passionate about psychology, neuroscience, and/or behavioral science – whether through education, work experience or personal passion and curiosity
- Creative, curious and analytical – able to combine clear thinking with creative flair to help unlock new insights and opportunities
- Comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity – embracing a growth mindset; able to ‘run’ without a structured brief and eager to develop new skills and stretch yourself
HEART:
- A team player and relationship builder – excellent at communicating and building strong, positive, effective relationships, as well as willing to roll up your sleeves and get involved
- Established self-awareness – demonstrating understanding of your own culture, identity, biases, prejudices, power, privilege and stereotypes
SELF-START:
- Self-motivated, ambitious, and hungry to learn – with an ability to proactively get things done and a desire to make a real impact as the company grows
- Strong and engaging storyteller – demonstrating excellence in the creation of decks / visuals that communicate data / insight in a compelling way (PowerPoint, Keynote and/or Google Slides)
MUST HAVES:
- Currently legally authorized to work in the US
ADDED EXTRAS & ‘NICE TO HAVES’:
- Marketing and business development experience and/or interest a big plus
- Quantitative methodologies / data analytics skills – experience with fielding and translating big data into strategic recommendations
- Team management experience – coaching and upskilling junior team members
- Writing / blogging experience – demonstrating strong writing ability through published / self-published work
- Graphic design skills – an eye for strategic design, experience with Photoshop / InDesign / Illustrator and generally making deliverables look good
- Additional Languages – bonus points if you can moderate a focus group in a language other than English
